I'm not even going to pretend I can write anything constructive about this game because I saw a total of four minutes of the third period when I stopped at my parents house to pick up my kids after a night of shopping. It was enough to see Daniel Paille walk in on a breakaway against Marc-Andre Fleury and watch as he fucked up again by going down too early. To be fair he did only give up two goals (the third was an empty netter) but he still lost for the third straight time and 4th out of the last 5 games. Unfortunately the injuries are just too much for the team right now. We can't score, we can't stop the other team from scoring, the power play is a disaster, etc. For a team that looked unbeatable just a few weeks ago, they have now slipped back into the pack in the East and won't be getting any better until Evgeni Malkin comes back. It's as simple as that. Hopefully that occurs next week when I'll be at the game against Anaheim. I can only hope.Next up the Pens finally come home after a disastrous road trip to face their toughest competition in the Atlantic Division, the New Jersey Devils. The Devils are one of only two Eastern teams to have beaten the Pens this year and that play that incredibly boring style that makes vampires cry out of boredom. They are only two points behind the Penguins, but have played three less games so they are about to pass us just a month into the season. Hockey really sucks sometimes.
Notes: Crosby failed to pick up a point for the fifth straight game for the first time in his career...Pittsburgh has not scored a goal in the last 149 minutes, 9 seconds...Brooks Orpik was injured in the first period and did not return...the Mike Yeo coached power play is now 0 for 23 during the last five games...the Pens recently called Chris Ferraro, who is playing with Las Vegas Wranglers of the ECHL, to see if he would be interested in returning to the team so they would have three guys named Chris who suck balls.
