Two more Kool-Aid suppliers to add to the list. On the 11:30 nightly sports show, whatever the hell it is called on WTAE, both Paul "I have aged immensely in the last year" Alexander and Joe "bunch of Mularchy" Starky both agreed that the solution to the Penguin blues is a scoring winger for Crosby. Man, you guys would have made good henchmen at Jim Jones' People's Temple.
However, I saw a little light today as I found a blogger that actually agrees with me that Crosby is the real problem on this team. For example, everyone has been coming down hard on Satan. Why? Well because people were stupid and never followed his career before Pittsburgh and figured he would pop in and give-up Hossa numbers (by the way people, Hossa's numbers were not great last year and have really tailed off lately this year). This blogger went back and actually looked at stats. Man, what a novel idea for helping to make a point. I wish others would follow his lead before typing nonsense. The stats are this...Satan has on average scored once per three games throughout his career. What is it with the Penguins you may ask? Well if he had one more goal it would be once every three games. And please shut your mouth now because I know what is coming out of it. "Well he should be scoring more playing with Crosby." I give you one question to stomp that...what player has Crosby made better? The answer is none. Hossa was same old Hossa on his line. Armstrong was same old Armstrong on his line. Talbot same old Talbot. Sykora same old Sykora. And Satan same old Satan. This guy has never once in the NHL made anyone better playing his wing.
Now I have heard some rumors about Kolvulchuk and Armstrong coming back to the Pens for Staal and Whitney. I have not heard better news since McDonald's came back with their McRib sandwich. If this goes down however, Kovulchuk should not be placed with Crosby. He should be placed with Malkin and Sykora (depending on who is a left and right wing. I am too tired to look that up). Give Armstrong bank to Crosby since they like to play Tonkas which each other during down time.
So since Pittsburgh Sportswriters are serving up a shit load of Ecto-Cooler (I love that shit. Goes great with McRib) I have decided that followers of me are Crown Royal Partakers. The Kool-Aids Kids vs the Crown Clowns. My moneys on the bunch of drunk asses that know their hockey. Which camp are you in?

Crown Royal...Sidney Crosby's drink of choice. :)
I don't know if I know my hockey, but I sure like being drunk, so count me in with the Crown Clowns ;)
I've got your back on this one, guys. I am not on the fire therrien boat yet.
Me neither Lori. Although Hep has been Captain and I First Mate on the S.S. Fire Yeo Battleship.
Whitney and Staal need to go...hopefully for Kovulchuck and Armstrong. They need Kovulchuk's skill and Armstrong's locker room shenanigans.
Then once Gonchar comes back...get rid of Eaton for some draft picks. He is playing terrible and you will drop some cash in the process as I think he makes $2 million plus. The use that in the offseason to sign some hole pluggers (that's what she said).
I like the plan a lot. And I get to be on the S.S. Fire Yeo Battleship, also. I either get to steer, or have my way with the crew. Either is acceptable. I would totally take Armstrong back. I like the idea behind having a Staal, but this whole randomly get a hat trick and then go to sleep for the rest of the year bs doesn't cut it.
I voted to keep Crosby just to stir the pot, but you are right. Crosby is not making Robbie Browns or Kevin Stevens out of any of his line mates. Blaming the wingers is not the whole problem. No doubt that Malkin has out performed Sid, but I'm not going to throw him under the bus just yet.
I think Mario or Therrien need to sit Crosby down and get him out of the mentality of going for the highlight reel plays and instead to get the puck to the net to create dirty scoring chances. The highlight crap will come on its own, because lets be honest, Sid has Lemieux-esq ice awareness and hockey sense. That is stuff you can't teach.
Granted, what I get to watch of the Pens is quite limited given that I live in Hurricane country, but when I went to the Montreal game I saw Dupris miss the net, fan on shots or shoot the puck into Price's chest at least 8 times on beautiful feeds from Crosby. If we had a better finishing winger, those missed chances may have turned into goals, but again, they were just hockey plays, not "great one" hockey plays. As talented as Crosby is he is not making the players around him better. Maybe the chemistry isn't there, maybe Sid is incapable of doing that, who knows? But it is only his what, his 3rd season? I think we may be spoiled because we came so close last year, and are sucking this season.
I want to be the First Gunner on the S.S. Fire Yeo. There is no excuse for the PP to be as pitiful as it is.
Lori,
Whats funny is that having your way with the crew and steering the vessel is one in the same.
We will make sure the wives are swabbing the poop-deck or are manning the coal steam engines when the "steering" is going on.
Joe,
I agree with Lemieux and Shero getting in on this and talking to the players that need a talking to. The reason I am so upset with Crosby is because I know he is good. He is not being "Captain" like either in what I can see from the ice and in post game interviews. I think Colby would bring a little spirit back to that locker room.
Man Joe, Its not everyday that we agree with each other. Maybe thats an Omen for a win tonight.
